What Makes a Great WRIR DJ?
We’re looking for folks who are: 🎚️ Comfortable learning audio equipment & sound boards
🎤 Clear, confident speakers (or ready to grow into one)
🎵 Knowledgeable about music—especially in a specific genre
🧠 Calm under pressure (tech gremlins happen!)
🖥️ Basic blog/posting skills are a plus
✅ Able to follow FCC and WRIR rules and procedures
🤝 Reliable, community-minded, and supportive of WRIR’s mission
Commitments & Training
📍 Location: Most shows are live in the WRIR studio (very few are pre-recorded)
⏰ Time: DJs commit to a regular 2-hour weekly show or serve as trained substitutes; if starting your own show, you must commit to a minimum of 3 months to start
🎓 Training: You’ll receive hands-on instruction from current DJs—3 sessions minimum. You’ll also need to pass a short FCC rules test to get on the air.
