Production & Live Sound

Live Sound Engineers

Love live music or talk shows? Interested in how sound comes together behind the scenes? Join WRIR’s sound engineering team!

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Run live sound for music performances or talk shows (or both!)
  • Use basic sound boards, microphones, and audio gear
  • Set up proper mic placement and levels for live shows

Don’t Worry—We’ll Train You!
No need to be a pro yet. One of our experienced volunteers will show you the ropes, one-on-one or in a small group, whenever it works for you.

Where:
At the WRIR studio, or — project permitting — remotely via Google Meet!

When:
Once trained, you’ll help as needed—usually 1–2 live music performances per week (mostly on weekends), or you can take on a regular spot running sound for a live talk show during the week.

Ready to Get Started?
  1. Tell us about yourself! Email us and let us know about your sound experience, livesound@wrir.org.
  2. Come say hi! Meet us at a committee meeting. Just show up, introduce yourself, and get to know the crew. Check out the calendar for meeting times (some are monthly, others every other month).
  3. Tune in and connect! Listen to WRIR and follow us on social media to discover what’s happening and how you can plug in.
