PANDEMIC #004: 13:13 feat. Saint Abdullah (NYC/Tehran)
Saint Abdullah are two brothers hailing out of NYC and originally from Tehran. Their work is confrontational sampling at its finest, splitting the difference between mental health and radical politics, often using sources both domestic and international. Their mother still lives in Tehran and often sends them field recordings to manipulate and use on their records. Tonight’s mix, “13:13,” is a 45 minute off-the-cuff free-for-all of free jazz, found sounds, and live improvisation. Some of this material may see release in 2020, some of it is exclusive to Pandemic.
