Richmond Counterculture/Shockoe Sessions Episode 18
Shockoe Sessions Live! is a weekly show highlighting Richmond’s music scene. Every Tuesday a different local act plays for an intimate studio audience of up to 50 people.
Shows are recorded and streamed live to YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
This episode features Madison Turner, Dead Billionaires, and ABVE
Madison Turner is a singer/songwriter/band from Richmond, VA and she plays a mix of alternative rock, punk, folk, hardcore, & ska. Madison started writing and recording music over 20 years ago in Tampa, FL, where the first album for this solo project entitled “life” was recorded and released in 2013. Now in 2025, Madison’s third full length album “Curtsy When You Land” is available on vinyl & streaming courtesy of Richmond’s Say-10 Records.
Dead Billionaires is a ramshackle band bent on scratching a primal itch — empowering audiences through effervescent, driving rock n roll.
Dead Billionaires started as the songwriting project of frontman Warren Campbell in 2016 in Richmond Virginia. The trio wields music as a tool for grappling with the problems of our modern society, while having a hell of a lot of fun doing it.
Their debut LP “Disaster Preparedness Coloring Book” –named after a 1990s government-issued instructional book for children– serves a guidebook for all those navigating the disenfranchising fog of our capitalist society.
ABVE: Born out of the constantly shifting musical landscape of the internet. ABVE has continuously evaded expectations with its ever evolving sound. Oftentimes incorporating unconventional chord progressions and unique instrumentation, the group is not afraid of experimentation. ABVE also is home to a large cast of rotating musicians, each contributing their own style and quirks to ABVE’s live shows and productions. The ABVE project has been home to ten different stage musicians, and seven producers with creator, Danny Aghdam, acting the sole curator and director of the project’s various lineups and eras.
