#150: TOKYO MELODY さよなら!!

Gotta say, would not be the DJ and music lover that I am without Freddie J of Banji Kaicho.
This dude right here is my musical brother.
Back in lockdown times when Panoramic was still called Pandemic, the first hour was always the more accessible one. The SECOND, on the other hand, usually was a Tempest– a squall of skronk and noise with the occasional slow jam or rap to ground it out. Most of the time, folks would drop off there. Right around the time Banji Kaicho started up on WRIR, I started getting messages from Freddie about how amazing these walls of feedback sounded.
Hell yeah, here comes a Real One.
Somewhere along this journey of mutual music appreciation we started talking city pop at length, and sometime after that we decided to throw a city pop party for Richmond. That led to the collaboration of Tokyo Melody.
We built a crazy beautiful thing. Les the DJ and DJ Laura Lopez came down from DC, Plum Eternal joined from Richmond. Only place in the world Miho Nakayama (RIP) shared a floor with the DANDADAN OP.
This isn’t a goodbye by any means, just a show of gratitude and thanks for Freddie, Banji Kaicho, Tokyo Melody, and all the listeners picked up along the way.
Thank you for kicking it with me, and us. Brought to you by WRIR.
And sorry, mate, I know you said no speeches.
