#143: singing blossoms (with gushes, the Eternal Oyster, NYC)
Tonight on Panoramic is going to an offering to listeners, and to the land itself.
At 7:30pm EST, we’re going to feature work and guest curation, from Jennae Santos, aka gushes aka Eternal Oyster, based out of NYC.
gushes is the art-prog moniker of Santos, while Eternal Oyster is their earth-body research-response container for ecopoetics and animal architecture, grounded landback and food justice. For this mix, they are tracing tradition from the Philippines, to Bay Area California, to NYC.
Santos crossfade personas as “gushes, the Eternal Oyster,” blending original drones with rice music, field recordings, folk songs, live performance clips featuring a tea ceremony for Choy Commons, and interviews with urban farmers at Red Hook Farms in 2021, in Brooklyn. In solidarity with the farmworkers strike in California– #HuelgaParaLaDignidad, all migrant, Black and Brown farmworkers, and Indigenous stewards, this mix is a love letter to the hands on land that feed.
