“Put your own oxygen mask on first, before assisting others.”

We’ve all heard that advice. Know whence it comes? When an airplane is failing, there is a short period of time called Time of Usable Consciousness (TUC). This episode is about that. Margaret Rittenhouse shares guidelines for how to utilize this time we have in the best way, how to actually put on that oxygen mask and remain well enough to help others.

PS I learned the TUC concept listening to WRIR. Back in the day, we aired a show called “TUC Radio” from Pacifica Public Radio. If you’re a long time Listener or Volunteer, you likely remember that compelling and dramatic half hour at the end of our News/Talk Day.

Tune in at noon Wednesday April 23 at 97.3 FM around Richmond, or WRIR.ORG around the world and beyond.

And you can share and listen anytime in the archives at WRIR.ORG  https://www.wrir.org/show/what-wakes-me-up/

While you’re cleaning things up, donate to our operations or to our capital campaign.  Details in the show or at WRIR.ORG and WRIRCampaign.org, respectively
