The Talking Machine #3 – LibriVox (mostly)
Hi! Today we are (mostly) taking a detour from sound recordings and listening to some audiobooks! These audiobooks are free to listen to because they were recorded by LibriVox volunteers. As part of LibriVox’s mission they aim to create public domain audiobook versions of public domain works.
The two primary audiobooks of the day are the respective Chapter 6s from both Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner. These are my favorite chapters across both books. I hope you enjoy this childhood flashback.
In-between the audio books we do have a few sound recordings to listen to. They are as follows.
- Jazzin’ Babies Blues by Richard M. Jones; released in 1923
- 31st Street Blues by Fletcher Henderson’s Club Alabam’ Orchestra; released in 1924
- If you don’t I know who will by Bessie Smith and Fletcher Henderson; released in 1923
This post is published with a CC0 Waiver dedicating it to the public domain. The corresponding broadcast is also published with a CC0 Waiver to the extent possible under the law.
