Late Mamadou M’Baye “Jimi” – not my photo

WELCOME!

.WRIR has been serving the community with independent and alternative news, views and music since 2005. That’s twenty years!

For twenty years, Graybeard and I have been bringing you African, Latin & Caribbean music on The Motherland Influence every Sunday.

Today is no different. I’ll start off two new songs from Cuba, one that celebrates Veinte Años (Twenty Years) and one that presents Cuban music in a whole new genre.

I’ve also got music from Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mali, fusion music from Guadeloupe and songs with guitars by the late Jimi M’Baye of Senegal.

Thank you for listening for your support of independent radio in RVA and across the globe!
