#159: cadaver opening (with Lucy Liyou, Bay Area CA)

Tonight, we’re going mad.
Well, not really.
I’d like to humbly welcome Bay Area theatre/sound experimentalist Lucy Liyou into the show. I’ve been a fan of her work for years, and she just released an incredible (and cathartic, iykyk) record called MR COBRA on Orange Milk. Her guest mix explores influences of both that record and her work as a whole. The backbone of the backbone, if you will.
Just a heads up: this mix is intense. So is the record, which concerns a past predatory relationship. But it’s sound art turned into healing catharsis, and all the nonlinear messiness that implies. Her mix features many different barrages of sound, all layered on top of each other. And, let me just say, it’s freaking cool.
I open and close with things I like as well. Stay safe and sane out there.
Next week: a special 5th week edition of Panoramic. We’ll be softlocking (iykyk).
