EXT SRC 61 / Levels / 04.08.26
For this week’s EXT SRC I’m exploring the crossover between electronic music, hip-hop, jazz, and video games. My kid ears spent hours absorbing 16 bit funk, techno, pop, and fusion from my SEGA Genesis. Now I’m listening to artists influenced by that same music. Musicians have come full circle from sampling the game music, using chiptune sounds or mimicking Playstation-era jungle to becoming game soundtrack composers themselves.
