What Wakes Me Up 15 Cypress and Murphy
Joy is an act of resistance — Luci Murphy
This is a two part show, starting with Penny Cypress, Chief Council for the Accowmacke Tribe on the Eastern Shore. She tells of the incarceration of her sister, Lisa Cypress, for working on efforts to reclaim their land. Visit Change.org and search Accowmacke for a petition to help out.
The second half is a conversation with song leader activist Luci Murphy who came to the Richmond PeaceFest and tells of the power of song in creating change, and joy, and pride and hope…You know what I mean.
Music provided by the Resistance Revival Chorus: This Joy That I Have, the World Didn’t Give It To Me.
