Midtown Swing

Once upon a time called Now

Wed, Sep 17, 2025

Bill from Global A Go-Go here, sitting in for the vacationing DJ Ginger this week on Midtown Swing. It’s a perfect opportunity for me to spin some of my favorite funk from the early 1980s, songs I played on Channel 36 Color Radio back in the day. That will make up the whole second hour today.

In the first hour, I have a post-punk cover of Fela Kuti’s “Zombie,” some blues including a few more surprising covers, and a set inspired by New Yorker cartoonist George Booth’s classic “Were we gay?” Sorry I can’t post that image here for copyright reasons, but search for it yourself, and instead enjoy the above view of Sir Lollipop Man exiting the Mothership.
