Alternative Milestones Episode 76 – New to Me!
I’m not sure if this says more about me or them, but the playlist for today’s show includes several bands I wasn’t aware of until I started collecting the milestones for the week.
Brakes, Hard-Fi, The Subways, Mystery Jets, The Beths, The Buoys and July Talk all fall into that category this week. Some indie bands from other countries.
But one of the goals of Alternative Milestones is to expose music that maybe you didn’t catch when it was new. So mission accomplished on that front!
Once again, lots of milestone birthdays to celebrate this week, including some huge figures in recent alternative music. We’ll be hearing from Beck, Arctic Monkeys (2 of ’em!), Jack White, Modest Mouse as well as The Used, Inspiral Carpets and Porno for Pyros.
And here’s a news flash! Coming up on Saturday I’ll be hosting End of the Century and this show will be a bit of an extension of Alternative Milestones, as I celebrate the upcoming 40th anniversary of Live Aid with 2 hours of performances from those iconic events – I hope you’ll join me from 3-5 PM on Saturday July 12th to go back to 1985.
