It’s time for a dance party on this episode of Richmond Counterculture/Shockoe Sessions! Today we’re featuring IONNA, Sweet Touch, and Velvet Kove!

IONNA

IONNA is a synth-driven electronic music project created by singer-songwriter and producer Soraya Silene. IONNA writes songs at the liminal moment of emotion, gauzed in a stylized, synth/guitar arrangement, eager drums, and a Hope Sandoval-shaped vocal delivery. When you listen to IONNA, you can hear the influences of Kate Bush, The Cure, and St.Vincent. IONNA’s driving melodies move between being danceable and other times, ambient, calling the listener to the universal and collective.

Sweet Touch

Sweet Touch is a dreamy electro bass pop duo from Richmond, VA consisting of Delilah Truck and Mike Sneed. Sweet Touch features the vocal work and lyrics of Delilah and the beats and production of Mike swirled together with the magic of peppermint, robots, bubbles, and aliens. Born out of Delilah’s battle with breast cancer, Sweet Touch is about finding joy, resilience, and fun – even through the hard times.

Velvet Kove

Velvet Kove is a Richmond-native multimedia artist and producer. Kove has spent years refining her sound and audio engineering, storming the Richmond scene with infectious pop power-tracks. Velvet Kove’s immersive world shimmers with playful wit and yearning, reeling beneath the haze of the heartbreak disco.
