What Wakes Me Up 12 Defenders Freedom Justice and Equality

Wed, May 21, 2025

Ana Edwards, Fern Diaz-Castro and Phil Wilayto are Defenders For Freedom, Justice and Equality, an activist organization that has, since 2005, published a newspaper, The Virginia Defender. I refer listeners to VirginiaDefender.org to learn more about their work for the rights of the incarcerated, workers and those whose voice is drowned out with the noise of capitalism and racism.

They have an antiwar committee as well as other projects such as this one we’ll talk about today: the economy and the possibility of a general strike.

Music:

Plástico — Willie Colón & Ruben Blades, released in 1979

Mr. Funky President  — James Brown 1974
