Alternative Milestones Episode 2 – Happy Birthday in Heaven, Gord
Gord Downie was front-man for the Canadian band The Tragically Hip, a band criminally unknown south of the US/Canada border. He also was a tireless activist in Canada for the environment, for Indigenous People’s rights, and for education. This week he would have celebrated his 60th birthday, but sadly brain cancer took him from us in 2017.
During today’s Alternative Milestones show I’ll tell you more about Gord and play some music from The Hip and also from his final solo album recorded 3 months before he passed.
We’ll celebrate other milestone birthdays during the show with music from UB40, Daft Punk, and another Canadian band – Our Lady Peace.
And milestone release anniversaries include Lily Allen, Bad Manners and System of a Down.
It’s gonna be a fun one!
And don’t forget, if you’re interested in these milestones I post ’em every day on my Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DrJayOnTheRadio/
