Hey, you all! Welcome to Francosonic. Tonight we celebrate the beginning of May with un brin de muguet, a sprig of the delicate lily of the valley flower, as it is commonly offered among friends and family in France on May 1.
As you can see in the picture, it’s a porte-bonheur, a little gift that brings luck and happiness, to the French. This offering coincides with May Day, la Fête du Travail (Labor Day)…when no one is working…expect a normally bustling French town to become a ghost town on this day, when even restaurants and small shops close their doors to take a day off.
