An hour of Anton Bruckner’s late symphonies…and Jacqueline du Pré plays Elgar…and happy birthday Günter Wand (1912-2001)

The first hour alone is devoted to Bruckner’s Adagios from his 8th and 9th symphonies, conducted by Gunter Wand and Otto Klemperer respectively. Then, Jacqueline du Pré’s historic recording of Elgar’s Cello Concerto conducted by Sir John Barbirolli. We should have time for Bartok’s String Quartet No. 1 as well, performed by the Takács Quartet, and some Chopin by Claudio Arrau.
